Job Summary

The College & Career Connections program (C3) will enhance the guidance and counseling landscape for Midland ISD students by equipping each student with the tools and support necessary for a successful college and career journey. The initiative aims to foster a seamless transition from high school to the myriad of post-secondary education and career opportunities available to them through Midland College and within the Permian Basin.

The Lead C3 Coach will oversee C3 coaches’ work to help students successfully select, enroll in, and matriculate to dual credit and postsecondary opportunities. This position will provide relevant, timely communication to support schools in their effort to funnel students and their families to educational opportunities in higher education. This position will report to the Executive Director of C3. The Lead Coach realizes the C3 vision of increasing dual credit enrollment at Midland College and post-graduation enrollment at Midland College.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
  • Experience working in a public school system
  • Experience working directly with students
  • Excellent oral communication, customer service, and public relations skills
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s license, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • Supervisory experience

Essential Functions

  • Oversee C3 operations within assigned feeder track
  • Lead the creation of a working C3 Coach’s Manual
  • Consult on the development of designated online platform(s)
  • Manage the relationships with key personnel on assigned campuses
  • Provide support to coaches within their assigned track
  • Monitor data from coaches within their assigned track
  • Assist with the development of C3 coach training
  • Assist with the coordination of C3 engagement events for students families, and community members
  • Provides guidance and support for students in grades 6-12 to promote dual credit and post-secondary pathways
  • Engages with students, families, and the wider community to promote dual credit, post-secondary, and adult education opportunities
  • Facilitates recruitment and exposure of Midland College opportunities and C3 program activities within the broader community
  • Monitors and tracks students’ academic plans, interactions, and other C3 activities in designated online platform(s)
  • Administers and synthesizes student career and program interest surveys
  • Manages assigned caseload of students across multiple 6-12 MISD campuses
  • Refers students, families, and/or community members to relevant Midland College programs and services, based on needs and/or interest
  • Educates students, families, and the community on the range of resources available to finance their college education
  • Serves as liaison between Midland College and assigned MISD campuses
  • Maintains accurate record keeping and data tracking for caseload management
  • Meets regularly with Lead C3 Coach, C3 Executive Director, and MISD C3 Coordinator
  • Maintains an accurate calendar with consistency on assigned campuses
  • Meets with students of diverse socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds
  • Applies the coaching techniques learned in professional development for C3
  • Participates in professional development and a quality management program focused on C3 implementation and continuous improvement
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends for MISD campus specific, Midland College, and community events
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move from office to other locations on or off campus

Pay Statement

Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
