Aviation Technology at Sinclair College is rapidly growing. The Science, Mathematics and Engineering Division at Sinclair Community College is seeking an aviation professional to serve as the Aviation Program Director for the Aviation Technology Department. This position reports to the Chair of the Aviation Technology Deapartment.
This position will be available to start June 2024.

The salary range for this position is $66,775 – $89,033 and is determined commensurate with experience.

Principal Accountabilities
  • The Aviation Program Director directs and coordinates all aspects of Sinclair’s aviation programs for the Aviation Technology Department. These include the professional pilot, aircraft dispatcher and flight attendant programs. Effective performance in this position will result in aviation students receiving required FAA certification as pilots, aircraft dispatchers and flight attendants while completing Sinclair degree and certificate programs.
  • The director supervises multiple aviation staff members, oversees the development and management of course curriculum and semester schedules, monitors student performance, and ensures compliance with FAA and Veterans’ Administration regulations.
  • The director manages the two flight school contracts for the Sinclair professional pilot program and is responsible for compliance with the contract and FAA standards for Part 141 flight school operations.
  • The director is responsible for managing the competitive, limited enrollment process for the professional pilot degree programs.
  • The director markets the program throughout the region and identifies and manages collaboration opportunities with other academic institutions and aviation businesses.

Requirements
  • Minimum of a Master’s Degree required.
      • A Bachelor’s Degree and significant industrial or educational experience and related certifications may be accepted initially in lieu of a Master’s Degree.

     

  • FAA certification as a pilot and/or aircraft dispatcher required.
  • Minimum of 4 years work experience in aviation operations, management, and/or aviation education field required; prior work experience in a management role required.
  • Effective communication skills to include written and oral required
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse array of faculty, staff, and students, including cross-functional teams, required.
