We are seeking a Design/Graphics Coordinator, Proposals within our Multimedia Design Group who will focus on and contribute to proposals for our Space Exploration Sector and manage the graphic assignments of the dedicated designers who do this work.

 

The primary tasking in this role is to act as a liaison between proposal teams and designers, navigating technical requirements and brainstorming how to visualize those ideas, as well as coordinating and providing general oversight of graphics production for proposal deliverables. However, there will also be opportunities to contribute with hands-on design work.

 

As a Design/Graphics Coordinator you will...

 

  • Join an interdisciplinary design section of hardworking designers, illustrators, video producers, animators, design thinking practitioners, and other creative staff members
  • Work closely with other area of the Communications Department on deliverables, to include (among others) editorial and public affairs.
  • Become a core part of the creative team at the Lab and work with talented teammates to define all aspects of end-to-end visual experiences
  • Help us craft effective and impactful visual communication materials for internal and external deliverables
  • Ensure projects are completed with the highest quality and on schedule
  • Respect branding guidelines while fearlessly exploring cutting-edge design techniques
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects within design specifications and budget restrictions
  • Perform retouching and manipulation of images
  • Guide non-creative teams on design methodologies to help them build interesting and powerful concepts

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

 

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, traditional art, communications, a related field or equivalent years of experience
  • Have 10+ years of professional experience, to include demonstrated experience with design, illustration, animation, branding, and communications
  • Have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Have experience working closely with colleagues to ensure on-schedule, seamless workflows and the delivery of the highest quality products within a cross-functional communications organization
  • Are a self-motivated visual storyteller with the demonstrated ability to assess situations, collaborate across the organization, make timely decisions, and communicate these decisions clearly, to all levels of the organization
  • Have unquestionable integrity with exceptional communication skills
  • Have a portfolio that expresses interest in a wide variety of design disciplines
  • Have an aptitude for learning and applying new software as required
  • Are proficient with the Adobe Creative Suite and other industry-standard design software
  • Have the ability to work on both Mac and Windows platforms
  • Are willing and able to travel 20% of the time
  • Are able to obtain a Secret-level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • Worked as an art director or creative director
  • Experience with data visualization and technical illustration
  • Worked on highly technical visualizations for scientific deliverables
  • Experience working on long documents with a large number of graphics
