Posting Summary
Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Director of Clinical Services/Assistant Director of Counseling Center. Under the general direction and leadership of the Director of Counseling Center, provide oversight and coordination for all clinical functions in campus-wide mental health service. The AD is responsible for the strategic planning, direction, and operations of all mental health clinical services and training within the Counseling Center.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
  • Provides direct service to students and the campus community, including but not limited to individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, etc.
  • Develops and implements clinical practices and procedures that are consistent with the mission of the counseling center: to serve students and advocate for collegiate mental health, ensuring adherence to best practices and evidence-informed care
  • Along with the Director, studies the organization and develops policies and procedures for providing and growing comprehensive mental health and preventative services for Rutgers University-Newark students including outreach and prevention, intervention, crisis service, group and individual treatment, and referral
  • Oversees and participates in after-hour/on-call crisis response as needed
  • Provides general and clinical supervision of all mental health services staff, and is responsible for optimal programming of the counseling center
  • Ethically and efficaciously manages clinical services to students, including supervision and provision of triage and risk assessments
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with campus partners and seeks to enhance community knowledge through outreach, training, and education for students, faculty, and staff which may require flexibility to accommodate for off-hours events.
  • Supports the daily administration of the center and all clinical services including the development and organization of the center’s training program, and participation of RUN CC in adjunct clinical and research programs

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
  • Four years of post-doctoral clinical counseling experience with demonstrated experience in providing substance abuse and/or dual-diagnosis is required
Certifications/Licenses
  • Active NJ licensure as a psychologist
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must have knowledge in risk assessment, clinical operations, and supervisory skill.
  • Must have knowledge and expertise in multicultural psychology
  • Must have expertise or interest in providing clinical supervision.
  • Must be able to work strategically to manage demand/need with the provision of quality care for students.
  • Must have demonstrated ability in time management, multi-tasking, and efficiency in administrative procedures.
