Position Summary | The Research Assistant Professor will work on research projects, academic training, and explore mechanisms leading to the development and progression of human cancers and other diseases. The position will involve seeking independent and collaborative internal and external grant supports; training students in related areas; organizing and implementing research plans; developing methods of research; performing data collection, analysis, and evaluation, and writing reports containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content. The duties will include using discretion and judgement in carrying out research activities within the research scope and methodology of the fields, processes and disciplines of molecular and cell biology and cancer metabolism. The Department Chair will establish the professional objectives and performance stand. ards and will make annual evaluations, and faculty co-mentors will provide guidance and input about research objectives, scientific progress, academic and involvement among the UNC and broader scientific communities |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | Ph.D. degree in biological and environmental sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, biology, and/or related areas with more than five years of postdoctoral research experiences in the related areas. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Biochemical and cell biology research experience in nucleic acids and proteins. Specific competencies in experimental techniques and assays include DNA demethylation, bisulfite sequencing, proteolysis targeting chimera (PROTAC), CRISPR knockout and knock-in, mouse model generation and management. The ideal candidate will be familiar with mass spectrometry proteomic analysis, Cleavage Under Targets & Release Using Nuclease (CUT&RUN), human and mouse embryonic stem cell (ES cell) differentiation, bioassay of cytokines, and single cell sequencing. |
