Job Summary
 
Under general direction of the Chaifetz School Director of Marketing and Communications, the marketing and communications specialist supports the marketing and communications needs of the Chaifetz School of Business in order to connect the school with a range of stakeholders including prospective students and families, current students, alumni, friends and the St. Louis community. The marketing and communications specialist provides content development support to ensure brand consistency of all internal and external marketing and communications from the Chaifetz School of Business.

Job Responsibility
30% - Manages Chaifetz School social media accounts, developing a strategic content calendar, writing copy and developing visual assets to facilitate regular social media updates and interaction on the Chaifetz School’s official social media accounts. Also assists with oversight and support of Chaifetz School student and/or department owned accounts.
20% - Writes, edits and proofs content for Chaifetz School marketing channels to support undergraduate and graduate recruitment efforts, grow awareness of Chaifetz School faculty research and elevate the overall profile of the Chaifetz School locally, regionally and nationally including but not limited to e-newsletters, printed collateral, postcards, billboards, digital marketing ads, etc.
15% - Supports marketing needs of internal Chaifetz School of Business departments to promote events, programs and services to the university and local community, working with staff, faculty and students to create fliers, develop web content, execute email campaigns and promote Chaifetz School activities through available marketing channels and mediums.
15% - Assists in maintenance of Chaifetz School website, writing new content, editing existing content for accuracy and style, managing web updates in the site’s content management system and supporting strategic efforts to enhance user experience on the Chaifetz School’s pages on slu.edu.
10% - Provides direct supervision for undergraduate and graduate student interns, delegating projects and tasks, providing feedback and managing student marketing team to ensure on-time delivery of high quality work products consistent with Chaifetz School brand standards.
10% - Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience writing marketing content for various channels on behalf of a brand or brands
  • Working knowledge of website, social media, email marketing and other marketing technology applications and platforms, including Adobe Creative Suite applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to distill complex information into simple, memorable terms
  • Proficiency in AP style
  • Ability to initiate and maintain professional relationships in a collaborative manner
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Strong attention to detail
 
Minimum qualifications
  • Four-year college education
  • 1 to 3 years of experience
 
Additional Information
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, journalism or related field
  • Minimum 2-3 years of related marketing experience
  • 1 year of experience working in higher education setting preferred
  • Prior experience supervising interns or professional staff preferred
