Description

Under minimal supervision, performs highly responsible specialized duties for an administrative officer; exercising discretion and independent judgment in interpreting College policies, procedures, and practices, as it relates to Workforce Services.

Examples of Duties

Essential Responsibilities:
A. Conducts individual and or group orientations regarding programs and services; performing intake, assessment, and certification for program eligibility; facilitating the development of client employment plans including maintaining, monitoring and updating plans as necessary; providing career guidance and advising clients on approved programs and providers; responding to client problems and complaints; and administering customer surveys for evaluation of services for the Workforce Innovative Opportunity Act program.

B. Issues individual training account awards according to approved providers, programs, and availability of funds.

C. Works with customers from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds in providing orientation, career planning, needs assessment, vocational and educational counseling, scheduling and registration, case management, job readiness and retention services for grant funded individuals in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements under the Workforce Innovative and Opportunity Act program.

D. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of federal, state, and local community college’s database software programs, and other computer software programs as required; monitors and updates computerized program records; develops and maintains comprehensive computer records system.

E. Assists clients in identifying and using various job search resources, facilitates the development of job seeking skills on an individual or group basis. Evaluates job readiness, makes suitable referrals for appropriate job opportunities.
F. Assists clients in identifying, accessing, and utilizing state and federal funding resources, i.e., FAFSA, KCC Foundation Scholarships, etc.

G. Maintains a good working knowledge of the labor market and employer needs. Interprets data and analyzes future occupational needs of the area from local and national labor market information sources. Provides Labor Market Information to, job seekers, students, and the public.

H. Contributes ideas, strategies, and efforts toward programming to achieve the program objectives and in meeting performance measures.

Minimum Qualifications

A. Bachelor's degree with knowledge of specialized principles or techniques normally obtained through a four-year college/university academic program or equivalent in-depth specialized training program directly related to the type of work being performed is required.

B. At least three to seven years of related work experience required.

C. Computer experience using Microsoft Office or comparable applications required. Able to use the telephone, voicemail, and email; able to manage files and perform basic functions with the current operating system; able to create, format, edit documents and spreadsheets; able to merge documents; able to create and use labels with envelopes; able to create, format, and edit tables, graphs, and charts. Certification as Microsoft Office Specialist in appropriate applications or demonstrated equivalent skills required.

D. Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

E. Demonstrated proficiency in English required.

F. Ability to communicate in other languages desirable.

Supplemental Information

Minimum hourly rate of pay begins at $20.72/hr.
