Job Overview/Summary: The Finance Specialist assists the finance team in accurately controlling and managing the implementation of accounting systems with a primary focus on supporting the IRC in Denver, Colorado. The Finance Specialist provides internal and external partners with timely, accurate and understandable financial information and reports.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with IRC’s accounting policies and procedures, as well as generally accepted accounting principles and donor requirements, for both the office and donors.
  • Coordinate the implementation of IRC's internal control procedures to safeguard the organization's assets.
  • Support daily financial activities:
  • Prepare entries and approve invoice journals,
  • Invoice and report on Accounts Receivables,
  • Resolve journal entry discrepancies.
  • Assist in month-end/year-end closing tasks:
  • Prepare monthly billing with review of account transactions to ensure accurate coding and completeness,
  • Produce variance analysis report,
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive understanding of donor policies, regulations, and procedures, and share this knowledge with the programs team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Two (2) years of post-secondary education or equivalent experience working in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or administrative support, preferably in a non-profit setting
  • Strong commitment to ensuring the success of the IRC mission while adhering to the values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality as defined in the IRC Way
  • Solid computer-based accounting skills, including spreadsheets and other financial related software programs
  • Proficient in general office software programs like MS Word, Excel, email, and internet
  • Proven track record to work as a team member in a cross-cultural environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Ability to optimally work with remote teams through telephone, email, videoconference, and other methods of correspondence
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken
Working Environment:
A combination of standard office environment and remote work.
 

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.

US Benefits: The IRC offers a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits. All US employees are eligible for sick time, a 403b retirement savings plans: up to 4.5% immediately vested matching contribution, plus an 3-7% additional IRC contribution, and an Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support in times of crisis and mental health struggles.
