Assistant Professor of Human Services (Full-time; Tenure Track)

Job Description

 

BCC invites applicants who enjoy working with a diverse student population to apply for a full-time tenure track position in Human Services. Teaching assignments will mainly focus on a wide range of both introductory and 200-level Human Services courses with select courses in addiction recovery, mental health and field work seminars. The typical workload is 15 credit hours of instruction per semester that can include off-campus fieldwork supervision. In addition to teaching, the faculty member will advise students in the human services degree program, assist in student recruitment and program maintenance and development, engage in college service through committee work, and coordinate curricular and off-campus field work sites. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative colleague interested in supporting students and the continued growth and development of a program that has recently implemented a sizeable HRSA grant.

Requirements:

Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field required with a minimum of three years post MSW experience in social work practice. Candidate will demonstrate depth of knowledge and experience in the discipline as evidenced by academic preparation and prior college teaching experience, preferably at the community college level. Additional background in social work, human services, psychology, or criminal justice is appreciated. The candidate will demonstrate a student-centered mindset with an interest in a wide variety of teaching styles to engage students in active and experiential learning through multiple instructional modalities, such as in-person, hybrid, and online. Experience in a variety of professional settings, including clinical work, will be valued and LICSW is preferred.

Applications will be accepted until the end of January 26, 2024. First-round interviews will be conducted by videoconference during the second week of February. Candidates selected as finalists will be invited to visit Berkshire Community College the last week of February for an in-person interview and a teaching demonstration. Finalists will be required to provide the names, titles, institutions, and phone numbers of three references.
