Summary Statement
An incumbent is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and enhancing the College’s relationships with external constituencies, while strategically marketing the institution. Primary efforts are focused on institutional advancement and development, Collegewide branding that aligns with the mission of the institution, public relations, and strategic communication and marketing functions. This position is also responsible for providing effective liaising between the President’s Office and donors, alumni, media, government officials and the general community, as well as internal constituencies.

Nature and Scope
An incumbent in this senior executive staff position reports directly to the President of the College. Reporting to the incumbent are the assistant vice president for institutional advancement, the assistant vice president for government affairs, and senior leaders for strategic communication and marketing. Typical contacts include senior management and executive staffs, members of the Board of Trustees, federal, state and local government officials, College donors, members of the media, business, industry, and community leaders, and members of other educational institutions.

Principal Accountabilities
An incumbent may perform any combination of the below listed accountabilities:

1. Provides Collegewide leadership and oversight for strategic communications, marketing, public relations and government relations activities, which include brand management, publications, advertising, communication plans, community relations, website, and social networking.
2. Serves as the College spokesperson and as the primary media and constituent liaison for the Office of the President. Manages the marketing and media coverage on collegewide programs, events, and activities.
3. Provides administrative oversight for Collegewide private giving including capital campaigns, planned giving, endowments, employee giving, alumni giving; identifying prospective donors; and cultivating and maintaining current donor relationships.
4. Provides administrative oversight for requests for information through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and endeavors to be proactive in anticipating needs and resolving issues.
5. Provides leadership for the College’s digital and social media strategies to meet the strategic, engagement, and recruitment goals for the College.
6. Provides leadership, support, direction, and supervision for all government affairs activity and other advocacy efforts consistent with the College’s mission and strategic vision, including liaising with elected officials and community leaders.
7. Collaborates with the vice president for academic affairs on identifying funding opportunities with federal and state agencies, local, state and national foundations, and corporate giving programs.
8. Provides administrative oversight for collegewide alumni relations to include organizational structure, communications, and giving opportunities.
9. Develops and manages annual budget to achieve objectives for the College and the division.
10. Serves as the key contact for developing and disseminating crisis communication messages.
11. Initiates cooperative relationships with Collegewide constituencies to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. Interact with vice presidents, deans, and directors of the College in the development of innovative problem-solving and new approaches to achieving institutional objectives.
12. Represents the College at local, statewide and national meetings, conventions, and other gatherings. Participate in a wide variety of College activities to ensure broad institutional perspective and understanding of the College’s mission, goals, and objectives.
13. Performs other related duties as required

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree and six (6) years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree and eight (8) years of relevant experience, in education, marketing, communication, or institutional advancement, including supervisory experience.
