Title: Vice President for Academic Affairs

Job Summary:
The Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) serves as the Chief Academic Officer for the College and is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of curricula and instruction. In addition to all academic credit instruction, the VPAA is responsible for dual enrollment and academic support services such as the library, learning commons, and distance learning.

Job Duties:
Provides leadership in the development of a comprehensive and coordinated instructional program that promotes student retention and success; maintains primary responsibility for the development of academic related administrative policy. Provide leadership, guidance, supervision, and support for staff in the Office of Dual Enrollment and Off-Campus Sites including Middle College. Provides strategic planning and budgetary management to foster continuing and enhanced academic progress, and scholarly activities of the College; manages fiscal and human capital to include development of a comprehensive staffing plan and efficient resource utilization. Leads in efforts to obtain grants and other outside funding to support academics. Coordinates assessment and gathering and analysis of data to support data informed decisions. Represents the college on local, state and regional issues pertinent to Academic Affairs; develops and interfaces with essential educational partners such as local educational agencies, local and state government and the private sector. Serves as an advocate for the development and use of technology and other pedagogical innovations to improve instructional effectiveness. Responsible for evaluation of academic and related academic support functions; promotes and leads in the development of academic programs. Responsible for maintaining academic policies and practices relevant to accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and the various other accreditations. Responsible for hiring, evaluation, promotion, and tenure. Provides leadership in managing and supporting productive change. Actively participates as a member of the President's Cabinet. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited college or university.
A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience with increasing responsibility in leadership of academic and career and technical instructional programs in an institution of higher education.
A minimum of seven (7) years of administrative experience at the level of Dean (or the functional equivalent) or above.

Preferred Qualifications:
Community college experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be a willing advocate of the mission of the college.
A demonstrated commitment to public higher education.
Superb communication and interpersonal skills needed to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with the community, faculty, students, administrators, and staff.
Demonstrated leadership in adopting innovative instructional methods and program development.
Strong knowledge of classroom practices to include teaching methodologies and assessment of student learning outcomes.
Strong knowledge of regional and discipline-specific accreditation requirements and processes.
Demonstrated experience with faculty evaluation, tenure, and promotion processes.
Experience with academic, operational, strategic, and budget planning.
Ability to lead through a shared governance model.

Pay Rate: $103,761 - $134,894 annual salary depending on experience
