Job Overview: 
This position provides a talented future nonprofit leader the opportunity to obtain mentorship and professional development directly from the MAW-SNV President and CEO with the intent that after a year or two (based on performance and needs of the business), this individual will lead a department of MAW-SNV in a Senior Leadership Role as a Director.

Job Obsessions: Individual fundraising (Star Society, etc.); fundraising research on best practices from across Make-A-Wish chapters and national; professional development and networking; special projects; event planning and logistics.

 

Qualifications

  • B.A. (or equivalent) - course of study in business or nonprofit management.
  • MBA preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated interest in nonprofit management/leadership.
  • 5+ years of nonprofit experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent computer skills required (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel)
  • Smartsheet knowledge preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated, creative, detail-oriented, and excel in problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and/or highly confidential information.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the capacity to interact with diverse groups and work successfully in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to connect with people and engage others in the mission of the organization.

 

 

Work Environment

  • The job operates in a professional, open-space office environment using standard office equipment.
  • Work-from-home capability one day per week after first 90-days
  • Occasional nights and weekends.
  • There is a high probability of glitter encroachment on personal items at your workstation.
  • Working knowledge of Connect 4, Candyland, and Chutes and Ladders required.
  • Magic wand to be provided.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties

The President's Associate is responsible for the following essential functions and duties:

 

 

Individual Fundraising

  • Works with the development and marketing team to ensure execution of MAW-SNV's premier individual fundraising program, Star Society.
  • With independent judgment, works with all Development Team's portfolios to identify and assist with bringing additional Star Society members into this program.
  • Helps manage specific areas of events where individual donors may be present (e.g., Starry Night; Fashion Luncheon; Wine, Walk, Wish, etc.).
  • Collaborates with the marketing team to develop any individual donor collateral and stewardship pieces.
  • Maintains accurate records of donors, vendors, volunteers, and contributions in the organization's database. Keep data organized and regularly update donor information.
  • Oversees tracking of Star Society and individual donor actions and stewardship in an automated SmartSheet and ensures all tasks are up to date.
  • Schedules and provides tours for potential donors, utilizing MOVES management.
  • Increases individual fundraising by percentage to be determined annually.
  • Attends corporate events and fundraisers with the focus of gaining additional financial support from attendees.

 

Fundraising Research Among Make-A-Wish National and Chapters

  • Collaborates with the national office and other chapters to learn and adopt best practices for fundraising at Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada.
  • Ensures our fundraising efforts locally are enhanced by national programs by ensuring calendaring around national fundraising efforts, utilizing suppression lists from national campaigns (as needed), and parlaying national programs to assist with the local chapter's fundraising goals.

Professional Development and Networking

  • Attends local (including Las Vegas, Henderson, and Latin Chamber) networking events, getting the message out to the community, and procuring new individual donors.
  • Joins a Leadership class from either the Las Vegas or Henderson Chambers for networking and education.
  • Meets with other nonprofit professionals to obtain best practices and a sense of community.

Special Projects

  • Executes and Oversees management and ROI for third-party special fundraising projects.
  • Works in conjunction with the CEO and Director of Corporate Partnerships to identify fundraising opportunities in the individual and community fundraising spaces.
  • Responsible for maintaining healthy relationships with community partners, ensuring stewardship and MOVES management are implemented.

Development Budget and Management

  • Assists with the development of the Development budget annually (excluding corporate and event budgets).
  • With independent judgment, ensures adherence to the Development budget of the entire department.
  • Tracks and analyzes the performance of fundraisers and campaigns.
  • Maintains accurate records of donors and contributions in the organization's database. Keep data organized and regularly update donor information.

Supervision

  • This position reports directly to the President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada.
