Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Library Associate II for University Libraries. Reporting to the Interlibrary Loan Services Supervisor, the Library Associate II works closely with the Interlibrary Loan Coordinators to efficiently perform day-to-day tasks in support of resource sharing activities across the Rutgers University Libraries and with Rutgers’ resource sharing partners.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Routinely processes standard resource sharing requests on various interlibrary platforms.
  • Monitors and updates resource sharing records in Rutgers’ ILS. Ensures processes are consistent with Rutgers’ policies, procedures, consortial agreements, licenses, and in compliance with national and international interlibrary loan guidelines.
  • Provides input to ensure that related process documentation remains current.
  • Assists with training and scheduling student workers.
  • Provides guidance to patrons, local interlibrary loan staff and colleagues at partner institutions regarding established interlibrary loan procedures.
  • Assists with monitoring departmental email queues, runs standard system reports, processes incoming and outgoing physical materials, and completes other related duties as assigned.
  • Makes suggestions for process improvements as appropriate.

Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates general knowledge and understanding of library resource sharing, interlibrary loan operations, and other library and online information systems.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong communication skills and computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Alma and ILLiad highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with copyright guidelines as they pertain to resource sharing. Proficient in Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat.
Equipment Utilized
  • Ex Libris products: Alma, Primo, RapidILL, ILLiad, Microsoft products, Adobe Acrobat, scanner/copier
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • The ability to push/pull book carts and lift packages up to 40lbs.

Immunization Requirements
