osition Summary

 

Single-cell Cancer Epigenetics and Bioinformatics. Postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Yang E. Li (sites.wustl.edu/yelilab ) in the Department of Neurological Surgery and Genetics, Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM). Our laboratory aims to develop innovative computational tools/methods and utilize single-cell (epi)genomic techniques to gain a comprehensive understanding of gene regulation in mammalian models and human diseases, particularly in brain tumors and neuropsychiatric disorders.

 

We aim to generate single-cell multi-modal omics datasets to understand the epigenetic regulation in glioblastoma progression, and empower precision medicine of mental disorders.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

 

Potential Projects:

  • Mapping the epigenetic landscapes in human brain tumors using single-cell multi-modal omics.
  • Characterizing epigenetic and transcriptomic heterogeneity in primary glioblastomas and in matched patient-derived models.
  • Deciphering the conservation of regulatory codes across species.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must hold a Ph.D and/or M.D. degree (or anticipate receiving their degree in the near future) in Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, or a related field.
  • Strong background in molecular biology and cancer biology, with a particular emphasis on single cell technology.
  • Proficiency in experimental techniques such as cell/organoid culture, library construction, imaging and handling animal models.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated track record of scientific productivity, including publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates with broad backgrounds in cancer biology, molecular biology, genetics, and genomics, are all welcome to apply.
  • Experience in bioinformatics analysis of single cell datasets is highly desirable.

 

Working Conditions

 

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

 

Salary Range

 

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
