Term pay rate may vary by course. Actual term pay is based on the course catalog contact hours multiplied by the appropriate hourly rate. All newly hired part-time Faculty will be placed on Step 1.
These positions are included in the bargaining agreement between Portland Community College and the Portland Community College Faculty Federation Employees. Employment in these positions will require, as a condition of employment, payment of monthly union dues or a monthly fair share fee in lieu of dues through automatic payroll deduction.
Portland Community College will hire only United States citizens and aliens lawfully authorized to work in the United States. All new employees will be required to complete the designated Immigration Service Employers Verification I-9 form.
|-Instruct students, using approved course outcome guides developed by college-wide subject area Faculty. |
-Assess and grade student achievement of learning outcomes.
-Use student feedback to improve teaching.
-Be available for a reasonable amount of student contact to respond to questions and to resolve problems related to the course through time spent before or after class or through telephone or e-mail exchanges or office hours where facilities and schedules permit.
-Attend one staff meeting per term as directed by the College and when notified by the Division Dean.
-Provide additional hours of course-related student conferences or tutoring over and above classroom instruction when courses are designated as requiring such.
|Associate of Applied Science in Aviation Maintenance Technology or other vehicle service field AND a valid FAA Mechanic certificate with both Airframe and Powerplant Ratings* |
A minimum of five years experience exercising the privileges of both the Airframe and Powerplant mechanic ratings, OR five years experience teaching at the college level or in an aviation maintenance training department or a combination of experience may be substituted, year for year, for aviation mechanic experience.
-An AMT Instructor presenting a certificate with a single rating will be limited to teaching only the subject material related to that rating. The above AMT Instructor education and experience requirements still apply appropriately to the single rating.
-An AMT instructor presenting valid evidence of a minimum of five years' experience exercising the privileges of an Airframe and Powerplant mechanic, or an appropriately related aviation industry, qualifies to teach the Related Instruction content regarding Computation, Communication, and Human Relations as described in the CCOGS for courses listed below:
Computation, Communication and Human Relations: AMT 102. 107, 115, 120, 123, 203, 208, 212, 213 and 222
Communication and Human Relations: AMT 101, 105, 117, 121, 204, 218, 219
Computation and Communication: AMT 106
*Instructors shall have earned required academic credential at a regionally accredited institution.
|Preferred Qualifications: |
-College teaching or industry training experience in Aviation Maintenance Technology
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team member
- Demonstrated communication skills in both oral and written formats
- Recent aviation maintenance industry experience
- Proficient in use of MS Office Suite applications
- Demonstrated experience using classroom presentation technology
- Hold an Inspection Authorization
- Associate of Applied Science degree or higher in Aviation Maintenance Technology
