General Summary

Your role will be to help and guide Odessa College students and community users who visit the Student Learning Resources (SLR) department facilities with a sincere smile and an enthusiasm for customer service. As a member of our staff, you are the foundation of our welcoming atmosphere.

As a supportive and interactive resource, you are dedicated to empowering our users to turn mild interest or building ideas into intensely focused innovation. You will invite others to imagine, create, grow, explore, collaborate, and realize their dreams and ideas.

Additionally, you will deliver support to your fellow SLR employees through dedicated attention to detail, awareness of time demands, and adaptability.

Specific Position Duties

As an Evening and Weekend Operations Associate, your main role in the SLR Department is to observe and respond to customer issues by facilitating problem-solving strategies adapted to the visitors’ needs. You will also maintain the ability to actively listen and respond to visitors’ needs. You are prompt, efficient, and engage with others from the first moment of contact to the last.

Responsibilities

• Assists evening and weekend students, employees, and community users with technology and directional questions;

• Answer telephone and provide information to callers or route calls to appropriate person;

• Assists in explaining administrative procedures and policies to student workers in the evening and weekend in the absence of the Executive Director.

• Responsible for monitoring and maintaining evening and weekend office informational postings and office supply usage;

• Interact with faculty, staff, students, and community members in a professional and courteous manner;

• Collect tutor data sheets;

• Prepare evening and weekend reports of department usage and tutor sessions;

• Other duties and tasks as assigned by the Executive Director of Student Learning Resources.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associates Degree preferred;

• 1-2 years general clerical experience;

• Must be able to work independently while demonstrating excellent customer service;

• Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written;

• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including but not limited to: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel;

• Should be able to work and interact with all levels of personnel;

• Demonstrates strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail;

• Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of up to 25 lbs.;

• Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
