: 

This is a non-tenure track faculty position for a clinical psychologist that will provide direct patient care as the lead behavioral health faculty for the University of Houston Health Family Care Center.  Additionally, this psychologist will contribute to the educational mission of Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine through clinical teaching, training, and supervision of medical students and graduate student learners in behavioral health fields. This position will report directly to the Chair of Behavioral and Social Sciences. 

Specific duties include the following:
Direct Patient Care

  • Provide patient care across the lifespan using a Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) Model in the UH Health Family Care Center (FCC).
  • Collaborate with medical team to develop clinical protocols and workflow guidelines. 
  • Develop and implement evidence- and measurement-based, person-centered treatment plans in consultation with patients, team leadership, physicians, and mid-level practitioners.
  • Provide short-term interventions, including motivational interviewing and evidence-based psychotherapy principles within individual, family, and group modalities.
  • Contribute to clinical program development.
  • Participate in community outreach activities.

Educational Mission  

  • Provide training and management of behavioral health learners and medical students.
  • Precept medical students in the UH Health Family Care Center (FCC) as part of the Longitudinal Primary Care Course and Psychiatry Clerkship. 
  • Contribute to the professional development of primary care physicians in behavioral health services.

Qualifications

: 

Qualifications: 

  • Licensed/License Eligible for the practice of Psychology in the State of Texas
  • Doctoral degree from an APA accredited program in clinical, counseling, or school psychology
  • Completed APA accredited internship training program within a medical/health setting
  • Clinical experience working in a fast-paced primary care setting with diverse clientele 
  • Experience documenting with an electronic medical record
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for providing effective integrated care
  • Experience providing clinical training and supervision
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Postdoctoral training in health service psychology within a medical setting   
  • Experience teaching medical students, residents, and psychology graduate students
  • Experience contributing to quality improvement projects
  • Training in best practices for telebehavioral health services.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, and/or Chinese
