The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to serve as a member of the Center for Genomic and Precision Medicine team. Job Summary: The postdoctoral research associate will perform experiments, assist with development of scientific presentations, and data analysis for pre-clinical work, as well as become involved in investigator initiated and sponsored clinical trials.


Required Education and Experience: 

  • Appropriate PhD


Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines. 

  • Provide a safe environment that fosters respect, inclusion, and equality of all faculty, staff, students, and visitors. 

  • Must be literate in the English language and able to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills in English. 


Preferred Education and Experience: 

  • PhD in Biology, Genetics, Pathology, Microbiology, Cancer Biology, Toxicology, or related science.

  • MD/PharmD with significant research experience.  

  • Experience in molecular biology, genetics, translational research, precision medicine, toxicology, cancer biology, epigenetics, tissue culture, clinical sample processing, clinical study experience.

  • Additional experimental formats in the laboratory include tissue culture for in vitro experimentation (major emphasis) and in vivo animal work (minor emphasis). 


Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Applicants should be proficient in standard molecular biology laboratory techniques, such as RT-qPCR, Western blotting, tissue culture, immunoprecipitations, ELISA, tissue staining, fluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry. Experience with biostatistics preferred. 


Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for evaluation, selection, and application of standard techniques. Will conduct standard molecular biology laboratory techniques, such as RT-qPCR, Western blotting, tissue culture, immunoprecipitations, ELISA, tissue staining, fluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry. 

  • Assist in the preparation of tables, graphs, photographs, and figures, and assist in manuscripts and grant proposals. Contribute as participant in research grant proposals, paper reviews, and provide publishable reports for journal presentation. This will include library research into new approaches.

  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data. Documents and interprets results of experiments and report to Principal Investigator. Cooperate in scientific papers, grant proposals, and manuscripts for publication. 

  • Maintain lab equipment and stocks, occasionally other supplies, and equipment. 

  • Participate in weekly lab meetings within the Center and other departments. Participate in joint projects involving faculty, junior faculty, postdoctoral fellows to graduate students and junior lab personnel. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
