Job Description

The School of Business at the University of Indianapolis is in search of additional faculty to accommodate growth in its programs. The School seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor of Practice in Accounting. This is a full-time, nine month faculty position with a start date of August 2022.

Professor of Practice positions are non-tenure track with three year renewable appointments although they do have a pathway to advance in rank. The position carries an expectation of remaining current in field through professional activity and continuing professional education. Service to the school, University and community are also requirements for the position. Business outreach efforts will also be involved with this position. Teaching requirements will consist of courses in accounting at the undergraduate and MBA levels, primarily Principles, Intermediate and Advanced Accounting. The normal teaching load is 24 semester hours per academic year.

Personal attention, small interactive classes, and flexible programming are the rule rather than the exception. The School curricula are built around Applied Business Projects and Experiential Learning and faculty are involved with students in client-based projects with local businesses. The School also has a long-running joint degree program with Ningbo Tech University in Ningbo, China and teaches classes in English in Ningbo.

Candidates should possess a minimum of a Master’s degree in Accounting or an MBA/CPA. In general, a CPA designation is preferred. Prior experience in applied consulting or work experience in the field is desirable; prior quality teaching is essential and previous teaching experience is desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS
