Northumbria University is a research-rich, business-focused, professional university with a global reputation for academic excellence. The University has 3 campuses: in Newcastle upon Tyne, London and Amsterdam. We are global in our scope and reach, with additional partnerships in Hong Kong, Qatar and Singapore. The University has a strong commitment to internationalism, including its valuable and long-standing links with Europe, which it is now seeking to strengthen. Our Amsterdam Campus was established in 2018 and currently offers six master's programmes and one undergraduate programme with UK accreditation. We also offer an additional master’s degree, jointly with the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), which has Dutch accreditation and we are looking to expand the range of programmes we offer with Dutch accreditation in the near future.

The Campus is fully integrated into Northumbria University, meaning that Amsterdam based academics are full members of the Department of Leadership and Human Resource Management at Northumbria University and therefore contribute to departmental objectives in teaching & research. We are part of an elite group of business schools worldwide that holds Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) double accreditation.

To support the further growth of both the Amsterdam Campus and Newcastle Business School, we are seeking exceptional candidates who can contribute to teaching and research in the fields of Sustainability Management or Business Ethics at the campus. This appointment will be considered at either Senior Lecturer (grade 7) or Lecturer (grade 6). The appointee will lead and contribute to the delivery of modules on our MSc programme in Global Sustainable Business Management. You will undertake research and scholarly activities, together with contributing to consultancy, enterprise, and other income generation activities. You will contribute to the design, planning, teaching and module leadership of a range of modules such as Business Ethics, Sustainable Leadership and Circular Economy.

You must have excellent interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to teach effectively on a range of programmes using a variety of technologies and approaches to student learning. You must have (or be exceptionally close to completing) a PhD or DBA in a field relevant to the post ideally coupled with a record of high-quality publications and have clear plans to enhance your research through further publication, funding bids and knowledge exchange. Possession of a university teaching qualification such as Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (UK) or the Basis Kwalificatie Onderwijs (The Netherlands) or preparedness to acquire this qualification within a reasonable timeframe is essential. In accordance with the focus of the programmes we deliver in Amsterdam, an interest in responsible management and / or sustainability is desirable.

The successful applicant will obtain the dual benefit of being part of a small and vibrant team at our Amsterdam Campus, whilst being embedded in the Department of Leadership and Human Resource Management which operates across our 3 campuses. The appointment will initially be made for a period of two years. The nature of the post is such that the post holder is expected to work and attend at the University’s Campus in Amsterdam such hours as are reasonably necessary for the effective discharge of the duties of the post. A fractional appointment of between for 0.5 - 1 FTE or a job share is negotiable. The salary indication for grade 7 is € 4246 - € 5202, and for grade 6 is € 3674 – € 4125 per month, excluding 8% holiday allowance but including allowances for commuting and pension plan.
