This position teaches criminal justice classes. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends Requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire Upon hire, may be required to pass security inquiry which may include criminal and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered Instructors from this pool may teach one or more of the following: BA104; BA111; BA112; BA113; BA211; BA212; BA213; BA215; BA218; BA228; BA240; BA256; BA257; BA266; BA267; BA268 Duties and Responsibilities: Teaches assigned classes following approved course outline; prepares and develops materials for assigned classes; provides students and college with course syllabi and recommends textbooks and other instructional material and/or equipment Provides classroom environment conducive to learner growth in a variety of delivery methods (individualized, small group, lecture/discussion); instructional duties and group facilitation Maintains student records of grades and attendance; scores practice tests and develops student educational plans May participate in curriculum development; may recommend textbooks and other instructional materials/equipment; may recommend library and reference materials; may recommend course outline revision Keeps current on technological changes, developments in subject area, and innovative teaching techniques Understands, develops, and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates a sensitivity to diversity in the workplace Promotes and applies the college's values for teaching and learning; creates a learning climate of mutual respect and fairness; encourages creative and critical thinking; actively engages students in the learning process; facilitates learning that applies to and enriches a students; encourages mutual responsibility for a supportive learning environment; clarifies expectations and encourages student responsibility for learning; and promotes learning as a life-long process Performs other related duties as directed Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited institution and a Master's Degree from an accredited institution -OR- A Master's Degree in Accounting from an accredited institution -OR- A Master's Degree from an accredited institution and a current or inactive CPA license or certificate Core Competencies: Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel College-level communication and mathematics skills Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching at post-secondary or college level A current, valid CPA license Online teaching experience Supplemental Information: SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Preference may be given to Chemeketa employees based upon current labor/employment contracts. Teaching assignment may include evening and week-end courses and the use of non-traditional delivery methodologies, .e.g. cable television and on-line/internet courses. Recently hired faculty are expected to participate in a new faculty orientation program.
