DESCRIPTION:

DEFINITION:

Temporary positions available on an as needed basis to perform a variety of clerical, secretarial, administrative and/or project assistant duties in support of various departments on campus. Duties may include, but are not limited to, scheduling appointments and arranging meetings; preparing letters for signature; providing assistance in the assimilation of data and preparation of reports; maintaining files; and processing a variety of College procedural and operational forms. Duration of temporary assignments varies in length; assignments are intended to be no longer than one year. Standard College business hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Work schedule for each assignment will vary. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent customer service and telephone sales skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to handle customer service issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ability to be self-directed, develop and maintain priorities and conduct multiple tasks in a given time frame.
  • Knowledge of modern office methods, routines and equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain essential records and files.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma; good working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software applications; good attention to detail; strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to prioritize projects, handle multiple tasks, must be able to type 45 WPM, and meet deadlines required. Two years previous office experience; basic record keeping skills; and experience working in a college or university setting preferred.

  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Lift and/or carry 20 pounds.
