Job Description

The Chief Executive Officer has responsibility for and authority over all facets of Choices while answering to the Board of Directors. The CEO provides leadership, vision, and direction for all activities of Choices. The CEO works in concert with the CFO, COO, Vice Presidents, and Directors to grow the business, ensure that high quality service is provided, and support new ventures that fit with Choices’ vision. The CEO oversees the processes and activities of Choices that maintain a positive, productive, and ethical culture. The CEO will support and uphold a commitment to racial and ethnic equity and antiracism.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains an effective, productive, working relationship with the Board of Directors.
  • Sets and implements a long-term strategic plan including goals and objectives for Choices with periodic reviews.
  • Responsible for setting and implementing an overarching vision of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) for Choices—both at the programmatic and administrative levels —that works to eliminate systemic organizational marginalization and promotes inclusion and anti-racist practices that will be evidenced through structures, customs and leadership.
  • Fosters a positive working environment for the entire organization, enriching staff morale, and advancing an atmosphere of teamwork and mutual support among all staff.
  • Provides direction and leadership toward the achievement of Choices’ mission and guiding principles: Empower Individuals, Engage Communities, Enhance Systems.
  • Works collaboratively with the CFO to provide oversight and management of fiscal operations, including preparation of a comprehensive budget and a focus on growing revenue and protecting/ contributing to assets and resources.
  • Works collaboratively with the Chief Operations Officer to provide oversight of all operational functions to enhance efficiency, impact, and collaboration; ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, and funding requirements; ensure efficient and forward-looking data analytics, technology, and systems infrastructure.
  • Assures services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders.
  • Works with the Board of Directors to plan and coordinate polices and to ensure adequate resources.
  • Attends all meetings of the Board of Directors and internal Leadership group.
  • Provides regular reports to the Board of Directors or relevant committee on the organization’s operations, finances, and implementation of the long-term plan.
  • Willingly completes other duties as assigned to meet the strategic and financial objectives of Choices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of master’s degree in human services, management, or similar field. Significant experience related directly to position duties may be considered as substitute for formal education.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in care management operations, including community program development, collaboration and inter-agency coordination activities, developing and managing budgets, and blended and braided funding methods, preferably non-profit human services such as behavioral health.
  • Must uphold, embrace and advance racial equity as an organizational operating principal, embedding this commitment in all aspects of the organization, including funder and community engagement, governance, external communications and internal leadership.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience that promotes leadership and initiative in all staff, successful team building, consensus building, conflict resolution, staff development, and advocacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively across a large organization, across multiple systems, and with a broad cross section of stakeholders toward agreed upon objectives, including state and county officials and managed care executives.
  • Demonstrated skill in fiscal management activities, team building, and development.
  • Strong knowledge of and genuine respect for youth and adults with mental health challenges and a firm commitment to empowering their families.
  • Highly organized.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license in state of residence and auto insurance.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
  • Work effectively with internal and external individuals, including other professionals in the community.
  • Work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Effectively communicate to various internal and external audiences, both in person and through various electronic media.
  • Manage time and work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
