Pools are posted based on the possible availability future assignments, which are sporadic and may not occur. When a position is available, the dean (or designee) will review qualified applicants from this pool. Should review of your qualifications result in a decision to interview, you will be contacted. Applications will remain active for 90 days from submission. At that time, you will receive an email letting you know if you are still interested, you may reapply. This keeps us informed of your interest. Instructs students enrolled in IECC courses providing learning experiences necessary for each student to meet the objectives of the course, as well as being responsible for improving learning experiences for students. An instructor’s primary responsibility is to provide high quality instruction so that each student may meet learning outcomes. An instructor is also responsible for working with the dean and colleagues to improve student learning experiences. Instructors may be assigned other instructional responsibilities as determined by the dean. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1. Help advance the role and goals of a comprehensive community college. 2. Create a learning environment for students inclusive of diverse cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds. 3. Prepare clear learning outcomes for each course and inform students of learning outcomes in a course syllabus. 4. Complete instructional duties, reports, and paper work assigned by the dean in a timely manner. 5. Attend division, department, and committee meetings and in-service programs. 6. Incorporate, as pedagogically appropriate, current technology in classroom, distance learning, laboratory and office environments. 7. Maintain and emphasize safe working conditions and practices. 8. Comply with all Board policies and administrative regulations. Minimum and Desired Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Master's degree (or higher) in TESOL / TEFL OR a master's degree and 24 graduate credit hours in TESOL / TEFL. OR master’s degree (or higher) with 24 graduate credit hours in adult education, OR Master’s degree (or higher) in any discipline with three or more years of experience teaching ESL and ENL courses. Desired Qualifications • Three to five years of teaching experience with students from a variety of ages, socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds, and learning differences. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Experience working with second language learners. • Experience with curriculum development. • Experience with implementing curriculum designed program standards. • Demonstrated ability in teaching academic, college-credit English • Demonstrated participation in professional organization(s) related to the field. • Demonstrated teaching excellence with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and work inspirationally with students.
