TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends Requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire Upon hire, must pass security inquiry which may include criminal and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered Duties and Responsibilities: Teach courses on any of our Chemeketa campuses. Teaches assigned classes following approved course outline; prepares and develops materials for assigned classes; provides students and college with course syllabi; administers and reports course-level learning outcomes data; recommends textbooks and other instructional material and/or equipment. Provides classroom environment conducive to learner growth in a variety of delivery methods (individualized, small group, lecture/discussion, online); instructional duties and group facilitation. Maintains student records of grades and attendance; submits grades in a timely manner as prescribed by the Associate Dean/Director; scores practice tests and develops student educational plans. Confers with other staff members and assists in the successful operation of the department; May participate in curriculum development; may recommend textbooks and other instructional materials/equipment; may recommend course outline revision. Keeps current on technological changes, developments in subject area, and innovative teaching techniques. Understands, develops, and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates a sensitivity to diversity in the workplace. Promotes and applies the college's values for teaching and learning; creates a learning climate of mutual respect and fairness; encourages creative and critical thinking; actively engages students in the learning process; facilitates learning that applies to and enriches a students; encourages mutual responsibility for a supportive learning environment; clarifies expectations and encourages student responsibility for learning; and promotes learning as a life-long process Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Teaching from an accredited institution -OR- Master's degree in related field -OR- A Post Baccalaureate Initial Teaching License in Secondary Education Core Competencies Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel, college-level communication and mathematics skills Working with high-school age students and/or college freshmen Preferred Qualifications Experience with behavior management GED and/or Alternative Education experience High School teaching experience Developmental Education college instruction Supplemental Information: Preference may be given to Chemeketa employees based upon current labor/employment contracts. Teaching assignment may include evening and week-end courses and the use of non-traditional delivery methodologies, .e.g. cable television and on-line/internet courses. Recently hired faculty are expected to participate in a new faculty orientation program.
