Job Summary This posting represents anticipated ongoing part time instructor openings in the field of Education: Paraeducators & Library/Media Assistants.

All newly hired part-time Faculty will be placed on Step 1.

Full term pay rate may vary by course. Actual term pay is based on the course catalog contact hours multiplied by the appropriate hourly rate.

These positions are included in the bargaining agreement between Portland Community College and the Portland Community College Faculty Federation Employees. Employment in these positions will require, as a condition of employment, payment of monthly union dues or a monthly fair share fee in lieu of dues through automatic payroll deduction.

Portland Community College will hire only United States citizens and aliens lawfully authorized to work in the United States. All new employees will be required to complete the designated Immigration Service Employers Verification I-9 form.
Responsibilities/Duties -Instruct students, using approved course outcome guides developed by college-wide subject area Faculty.
-Assess and grade student achievement of learning outcomes.
-Use student feedback to improve teaching.
-Be available for a reasonable amount of student contact to respond to questions and to resolve problems related to the course through time spent before or after class or through telephone or e-mail exchanges or office hours where facilities and schedules permit.
-Attend one staff meeting per term as directed by the College and when notified by the Division Dean.
-Provide additional hours of course-related student conferences or tutoring over and above classroom instruction when courses are designated as requiring such.
Minimum Qualifications Instructional Assistant/Library Media Instructor:
Master's Degree in subject area, such as education, library, media
Master's Degree in any related area plus 2 years of a combination of teaching and non-teaching work experience in the field

Media Instructor:
Same requirements as Assistant/Library Media Instructor
Bachelor's Degree in subject area plus 3 years of a combination of teaching and on-teaching work experience in the field
Bachelor's degree in related field plus 4 years of a combination of teaching and non-teaching work experience in the field
AAS Degree in subject area or professional education plus 5 years of a combination of teaching and non-teaching work experience in the field
Demonstrate competency with a minimum of 30 quarters of upper division course work in the subject area plus 5 years of combination of teaching and non-teaching work experience in the field

ED 100 Introduction to Education:
Masters Degree in Education or Communications or Intercultural Relations or Psychology

ED 124 Instructional Strategies:
Masters Degree in Education with 3 years of teaching math K-12 settings or MATH endorsement K-12
Masters Degree in Math or Math Education with 3 years of teaching math K-12 settings

ED 263 Portfolio Development:
Masters Degree in Education or Psychology or Communication or Intercultural Relations

*Instructors shall have earned required academic credential at a regionally accredited institution.
