This position teaches criminal justice classes. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends Requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire Upon hire, must pass security inquiry which may include criminal and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered Duties and Responsibilities: Provides classroom and behind the wheel instruction to area high school students and adult Maintains all required documentation for reporting to the state those students who have successfully completed the program Understands and collaborates effectively with a variety of students, staff, and public from diverse cultural, social and economic backgrounds Assists in the administration of tests and other evaluations Teaches assigned classes following approved course outline; prepares and develops materials for assigned classes; provides students and college with course syllabi and recommends textbooks and other instructional material and/or equipment Provides classroom environment conducive to learner growth in a variety of delivery methods (individualized, small group, lecture/discussion); instructional duties and group facilitation Maintains student records of grades and attendance; scores practice tests and develops student educational plans May participate in curriculum development; may recommend textbooks and other instructional materials/equipment; may recommend library and reference materials; may recommend course outline revision Keeps current on technological changes, developments in subject area, and innovative teaching techniques Understands, develops, and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates a sensitivity to diversity in the workplace Promotes and applies the college's values for teaching and learning; creates a learning climate of mutual respect and fairness; encourages creative and critical thinking; actively engages students in the learning process; facilitates learning that applies to and enriches a students; encourages mutual responsibility for a supportive learning environment; clarifies expectations and encourages student responsibility for learning; and promotes learning as a life-long process Performs other related duties as directed Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Certificate of completion from the Foundations of Traffic Safety Education course (ODOT approved) -AND- Certificate of completion from Fundamentals of Classroom Traffic Safety Instruction course (ODOT approved) -AND- Certificate of completion from Fundamentals of Behind-the-Wheel Instruction course (ODOT approved) Core Competencies: Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills Preferred Qualifications: Prior teaching experience in the public school system Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution Supplemental Information: Preference may be given to Chemeketa employees based upon current labor/employment contracts. Teaching assignment may include evening and week-end courses and the use of non-traditional delivery methodologies, .e.g. cable television and on-line/internet courses. Recently hired faculty are expected to participate in a new faculty orientation program.
