Job Title: English Instructor (Adjunct Pool) Closing Date/Time: Continuous State Salary Range: See Position Description Bargaining Unit: Adjunct Faculty Job Type: Faculty, Part Time (Adjunct) Location: Quad Cities Campus - Moline, Illinois Print Job Information | Apply General Responsibilities Benefits Supplemental Questions To provide appropriate classroom, clinical, or other instruction as assigned. Description of All Duties: Faculty member is expected to encourage learning by preparing appropriate syllabi; by developing lectures, discussions, and other presentations or activities to enhance the students educational experience; develops, and executes appropriate methods of evaluating students performance; works with the library to maintain appropriate materials to the course(s); develops, secures, and maintains the equipment and other instructional materials essential to the presentation of the classroom material. Education & Experience: Master's degree in English required. Oral English proficiency for classroom instruction is required. One of the instructors who is selected for this position may be needed teach Dual Credit courses at Erie High School. Supplemental Information: Black Hawk College is accepting applications to form a pool of qualified candidates for Summer and Fall 2013 semesters. Salary for instructors and presenters is commensurate with education and experience. Depending on the longevity of the adjunct/presenter assignment and the number of equated hours or contact hours taught, the instructor may be eligible for membership in the bargaining unit as well as eligible for limited benefits such as tuition waiver and sick days. Instructors/Presenters teaching in contact hours are paid at an hourly rate. The minimum starting hourly rate is $15.00 per hour. Instructors teaching in equated hours are paid at a per equated hour rate. The minimum starting equated hour rate is $405 per equated hour. For example, if you teach a class that is 4 equated hours, you would be paid a total of $1620. Pay is equally spread out over the length of the semester.
