Remarks: Being hired into the regular part-time instructor pool is not a guarantee of employment. Classes are assigned on an as-needed basis. Position Type: Faculty Duties and Responsibilities: Teach one or more composition courses, at assigned campuses. - Conduct one (1) office hour per week at the campus where the class is held for each course taught. - Meet administrative deadlines and requests for student data as assigned by the department or the college. - Attend one department meeting per term. - Other related duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: - A Master's degree in English (must be conferred before beginning instruction) from an accredited institution. - Minimum of two semesters of recent college instructional experience in lower division English (composition preferred) required or documented successful completion of CNM's Tools for Teaching or similar college classroom management training. - Demonstrated ability to relate to and instruct a non-traditional, diverse student population. -To ensure compliance with federal and college requirements some mandatory training must be completed for this position. Preferences: - Demonstrated working knowledge of current issues, trends, and developments in English composition instruction. - Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching methods including lecture, collaborative learning, and individualized instruction. - Demonstrated ability to relate and explain complex subject matter to first- and second-year college students.
