Families for Depression Awareness (FFDA) seeks a Development and Communications Coordinator to further our mission of providing upstream suicide prevention education to family caregivers of people living with a mood disorder. The Development and Communications Coordinator will work collaboratively with the FFDA staff and Board committees, reporting to FFDA’s Executive Director. This is a full-time remote position, with in-person meetings throughout Massachusetts and occasionally beyond.

Our team is dedicated and collaborative with all members committed to the cause of suicide prevention.
Responsibilities
1. Individuals and Families
- Collaborate with the Fundraising Committee to develop an annual Fundraising Plan
- Research, qualify, and connect with new mid-level donor leads
- Follow up with donors according to the annual fundraising plan and best practices
- Manage the annual appeal, year-in-review, and midyear campaigns
- Design and implement strategies to cultivate relationships with memorial donors, program participants, and other potential repeat donors
2. Foundations and Corporations
- Foster positive relationships with corporate and foundation supporters
- Prepare and submit foundation and corporate grant applications, collateral materials, and reports
- Sustain and grow the corporate membership program
- Create applications and proposals for corporate program support
- Identify and solicit new corporate and foundation leads
3. Fundraising Operations
- Maintain records of donor cultivation and other fundraising activities in FFDA’s donor database (Salsa)
4. Evening of Hope and Discovery Event
- Oversee planning and execution of annual event, working in consultation with the Board and an event committee, including, for example, theme, venue, vendors, food and beverages, program, invitations and publicity, and fundraising options (such as auction, raffle, ways to donate)
- Recruit corporate sponsors and oversee completion of commitments to sponsors
- Gather feedback after the event to inform future planning
5. Board Relationships
- Serve as staff liaison to and support the Fundraising, Event, and Marketing Committees
- Provide fundraising reports to the Board, including progress on Board members’ fundraising goals and obligations
6. Communications
· Produce a minimum of 4 mailings and 6 email blasts annually for donor communications
· Manage the calendar of Corporate Members benefits and coordinate joint social media campaigns
- Maintain development-related content on familyaware.org and social media
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Our ideal Development and Communications Coordinator is a high-energy, personable leader who thrives on creating meaningful, professional connections with donors, funders, and volunteers. This person lives in or near Massachusetts and has
· passion for the cause of helping people with mood disorders and advancing non-profit organizations
· a Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years related employment, preferably in a nonprofit setting
· prior experience with at least two of the following: grant writing, individual donor cultivation, corporate or foundation relations, marketing, communications
· strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), social media platforms, and Canva, with knowledge of or willingness to learn a donor database management system
· exceptional written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
· effective time management skills
· regular access to a reliable automobile.
Compensation
The salary range is $48,500-$50,000. As a full-time employee, the Development and Communications Coordinator receives paid time off and AFP membership, and is eligible for health insurance. FFDA reimburses for meeting and event mileage, tolls, and parking fees in accordance with FFDA policies. FFDA embraces diversity and inclusion.
