The NSF PREM For Hybrid Nanoscale Systems at North Carolina Central University (https://sites.psu.edu/nccuprem/) is seeking an outstanding postdoctoral fellow to participate in the characterization of charge transport in one- and two-dimensional semiconductor nanostructures across a wide range of spatial and temporal scales.

The initial appointment will be for a period of one year with possibility of extension up to three years. Facilities available for this research include transient absorption and time resolved photoluminescence microscopy setups built around an ultrafast laser system, an integrated scanning probe – optical microscopy instrument and a time resolved millimeter wave photoconductivity system.

The PREM program is a partnership with Pennsylvania State University, and a core responsibility of the position is to serve as the interface between NCCU and Penn State research groups, and to use the extensive characterization facilities available at Penn State. Candidates should have experience in one or more of the following areas: ultrafast optical spectroscopy, near field optical microscopy, nanomaterial growth, and Kelvin probe / scanning capacitance microscopy.

Other desired skills include experience with supervision of undergraduate student researchers, strong oral and written communication skills, and willingness to work with a wide range of team research projects.

The successful candidate will develop experimental tools, and analyze data from multiple techniques to establish a clear understanding of charge carrier dynamics in 1D and 2D nanomaterials. A Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or a related field is required. Applicants should submit a CV, statement of research experience / interests and two reference letters to mwu@nccu.edu.

NCCU is a Historically Black University within the UNC System and we are actively seeking applicants from underrepresented minorities.
