Program development experience
Experience with budgeting
Experience supervising and advising student groups
Experience in public relations and marketing
Experience with public speaking.


Job Description:

The Manager of Student Programs provides leadership to the Student Alumni Leadership Council (SALC); and the Future Alumni Network student membership program; supervises the selection, training, and education of SALC to student committee members to prepare them as future leaders, volunteers, and financial supporters of Iowa State University and the ISU Alumni Association. In addition, provide students with an opportunity to serve the university, their peers, and the university community through in-person and virtual programs and events such as Homecoming, Senior Week, STATE Day, Alumni Speaker series, etc. that will foster a deeper sense of loyalty and commitment to Iowa State.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide overall SALC Leadership to approximately 70 students serving on five committees

  • Advise Senior Class Council Committee of the Student Alumni Leadership Council

  • Advise Homecoming Central Committee of the Student Alumni Leadership Council

  • Co-advise the Cyclone Alley Central Committee with the ISU Athletics Department

  • Advise the Ambassadors Committee of the Student Alumni Leadership Council

  • Manage all aspects of the Future Alumni Network membership program

Example of Duties
• Manages specific program area of alumni relations.
• Assists in cultivating and broadening alumni interest in the University.
• Assists in developing, strengthening and implementing alumni programs.
• Plans, coordinates, and implements events and programs.
• Hires, trains, and supervises volunteers.
• Prepares promotional materials.
Level Guidelines
• Individual contributor position with developing professional and/or technical skills working under immediate to general supervision
• Grasps professional-level knowledge and concepts of field while working in a progressive learning mode
• Works on problems and issues of somewhat limited scope
• Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data for which answers are available or can be obtained
• Responds to inquiries and issues, escalating to manager or higher level workers as appropriate
• May lead projects of limited scope and complexity
• May provide guidance to students
