The Director of Student Activities is essential to the development of campus life at Odessa College. This position works to develop a well-rounded, caring, supportive, and welcoming student experience at Odessa College. The Director is responsible for developing a rich campus life through co-curricular cultural, developmental, educational and recreational programs and initiatives. This position is also responsible for advising Student Government Association, advising Campus Activities Board, managing campus student organizations, serving on campus wide committees, overseeing the Game Room and supervising the Student Life office staff. This position will serve in the on-call rotation with the Residence Life professional staff as scheduled and as needed.
|Specific Position Duties
Develop student programming (in person and virtual), promote cultural diversity and provide on-campus student entertainment activities;
Assist with the Drive to Success program initiatives through event implementation, promotions, and purchasing.
Keep track of department budget, purchase giveaways, apparel, and promotional materials.
Hire, train and supervise all part-time and student workers for Student Activities;
Advise the Student Government Association and Campus Activities Board;
Plan, coordinate and supervise the production and dissemination of information regarding student organizations and student activities;
Coordinate external entertainment and events and ensure adherence to campus policies and procedures through areas such as contracts, purchasing, risk management, and facilities.
Create, implement and continue campus traditions.
Assist with OC Athletics game day events and activities.
Provide training and resources for all student organization advisors and officers;
Approve student organization events, programs, fundraisers, and travel.
Manage Student Life social media platforms, student organization Blackboard, and website.
Serve as a consultant to student leaders and advisors of student organizations;
Develop and implement co-curricular activities and co-curricular transcript that provide awareness, outreach, and engagement.
Develop annual assessment of co-curricular programming.
Create a Student Life newsletter.
Assist with student conduct and Title IX hearings, investigations, documentation, and trainings as needed.
Know and enforce campus and community policies and procedures.
Serve on the Behavioral Intervention Team & Food Pantry committee.
Maintain professional communication and relationships with Odessa College personnel;
Ensure student confidentiality and adhere to privacy laws;
Assume a leadership role and serve as a role-model for residents;
Serve as a point of contact for community resources.
Coordinate all student orientation events, activities and serve as the main point of contact.
Assist with Residence Life department procedures;
Supervise the OC Game room.
Serve on committees as needed.
Other duties as may be assigned by supervisors.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education required; Highly developed skills in written and verbal communication, organization, personal responsibility and enthusiasm; Basic knowledge of computers and software packages; Ability and willingness to adapt to a flexible work schedule; Previous higher education work experience or student activities/intramurals experience while in college or as a professional.
