This is a one-year, FEMA-funded position that centers on investigating the reliability of structures with design flaws or construction errors in high seismic zones. The project requires interviewing engineers that have conducted post-earthquake inspections, conducting full-scale seismic testing of wood shear-wall structures, executiug statistical and reliability analyses, and planning educational seminars for contractors and design professionals.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in engineering with expertise in Structural Engineering, Earthquake Engineering or Reliability Engineering; excellent oral and written communication skills; proficiency preparing visual presentations, written reports, and the ability to clearly and concisely communicate engineering information to a variety of audiences; coursework or experience in probability, statistics, reliability analysis; and proof of eligibility to work in the USA.
