Canadian College of Technology and Business (CCTB) is a member of Global University Systems (GUS). GUS is a United Kingdom-based international education group with institutions in the UK, Singapore, Germany and Canada, and a student body of over 78,000 students. The President provides visionary leadership for the College and is responsible for the delivery of educational and operational services.

The President will be responsible for advancing the College’s educational initiatives involving intercollegiate articulation, developmental education and learning resources systems. Comfort with making data-driven decisions is essential, as well as perseverance and a strong commitment to the College’s mission and its student success agenda. The President must have the ability to build and maintain trusting, collegial relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of our governing board. The President must possess a strong ability to lead, inspire and execute the long-term vision and strategies of CCTB.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership in determining the academic vision and priorities of the College through the development and implementation of the strategic academic plan; fosters long-range planning and development and discontinuance of curriculum, programs.
  • Develops and provides oversight on the fulfillment of comprehensive strategic academic plans and supporting departmental/divisional operational plans.
  • Provide leadership in matters of academic strategy, exploring, developing, launching, and sustaining educational initiatives consistent with the College mission.
  • Build relevant, viable, innovative, and high-quality academic programs for lifelong learning. Monitor the work of all staff and faculty on a regular basis to ensure quality and accuracy in all tasks performed.
  • Administer the overall development, evaluation and improvement of the college curriculum and student services programs, services, and activities.
  • Provide leadership for sound fiscal planning in the development and management of the institution budget and externally funded initiatives.
  • Plan and recommend instructional and student services programs, college budget, and organizational structure of the College.
  • Fosters a culture that attracts, retains and ensures the success of students and ensures a positive student experience.
  • Administer the overall development, evaluation and improvement of the college curriculum and student services programs, services, and activities.
  • Oversee the collaboration of academic and student services managers to provide and enhance a student-centered model of education.
  • Develop and maintain an appropriate administrative organization to ensure effective and efficient management of the College and its resources.
  • Oversee college facilities to ensure that they are functional.

Position Requirements To be successful in the President position, the individual must possess:

  • An advanced academic degree, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a private career college and/or higher education.
  • Experience in strategic planning and college-level policy development. High ethical standards and attention to compliance with College policies and regulations.
  • Experience collaborating and effectively working with executives, administrative staff, instructors, and stakeholders.
  • Proven experience at successfully developing and strengthening management controls, policies, and operational processes.

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Superior knowledge of the BC College systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organization, analytical and motivational skills.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to think independently and take the initiative to solve problems proactively.
  • Demonstrated management experience, including the ability to motivate and lead a team in a fast-paced, service-driven environment, is highly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal with the ability to effectively liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with a variety of individuals and departments.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information in a discreet and professional manner. Proficient computer skills required (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
