Postdoc Scholar in Biomedical Imaging and Behavioral Neuroscience

The Hoth Lab at the University of Iowa (https://hoth.lab.uiowa.edu/) seeks a postdoctoral research fellow passionate about interdisciplinary research to investigate physiological mechanisms impacting the brain in patients with smoking-related lung disease. The ideal candidate has prior experience with multidisciplinary team science and biomedical imaging and an interest in utilizing imaging to understand clinical and behavioral science outcomes.

The postdoctoral fellow will work as a part of a collaborative team including experts in behavioral neuroscience, lung and brain imaging, vascular physiology, and internal medicine. The primary goal of our current research is to model associations between changes in lung pathophysiology (via CT), vascular physiology (via ultrasound), brain structure (via brain MRI), and behavior in smokers with early chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Training in cutting-edge quantitative lung imaging technologies, including pulmonary vasculature (e.g., perfusion heterogeneity), will be part of the fellowship with support from the Advanced Pulmonary Physiomic Imaging Lab at the University of Iowa. The candidate will have access to dedicated state-of-the art computing, imaging, and clinical research facilities.

The Hoth Lab conducts clinical research to understand biological mechanisms of cognitive decline in adults with cardiopulmonary medical illnesses (e.g., COPD, heart failure, and obstructive sleep apnea). We are located within the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and are a member of the Iowa Neuroimaging Consortium and Iowa Neuroscience Institute.
