Position Description:

Contributes to research design and implementation, including human subjects procedures, conference proposals and presentations, and publications; conducts secondary research and literature reviews; coordinates with external evaluators to create needs assessments and evaluation rubrics based on research conducted; designs and implements research-based, online (asynchronous and synchronous) professional learning related to supporting multilingual learners in ESL and content area classes; and teaches one TESOL or LANG course per semester (e.g., language teaching methods, bilingualism and bilingual education) to undergraduate and graduate students.


This is a two-year term position, with possibility to extend to a third year. This position is funded by a National Professional Development grant from the U.S. Department of Education's Office of English Language Acquisition.


Education Requirements:

Doctorate degree in education, educational linguistics, TESOL or applied linguistics required. ABDs will be considered. Degree must be conferred prior to start date.


Required Qualifications:

At least two years of teaching experience in a K-12 setting, online education, teacher preparation, and/or professional development; relevant experience and scholarship in one or more of the following key grant areas: supporting multilingual learners in ESL and/or content area classes, family/community engagement, or teacher preparation/professional development for working with multilingual learners; ability to work both independently and collaboratively; and excellent written and verbal communication skills required.


Desirable Qualifications:

Experience in bilingual education; and experience managing professional development and/or research projects preferred.
