Job Summary/Basic Function:
Student leadership development, student engagement, and inclusive activities are the main focus of the Office of Student LIFE. Student LIFE serves the Associated Students and the campus community by providing programs and services that support educational, cultural, social and personal growth, in order to create a positive learning environment that enhances the total student educational experience.

The Program Specialist II is responsible for managing the EvCC Student LIFE Ambassador Program, including hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating student employees. The Program Specialist coordinates general campus tours, manages the student ID card system, and coordinates the quarterly Welcome Days events with campus partners. The position also assists with budget management and coordination of large-scale events such as the annual commencement ceremony.

Performance Responsibilities:
  • Manage the EvCC Student LIFE Ambassador Program; independently hire, supervise, evaluate, and direct the work of Student LIFE Ambassadors.
  • Provide training to student employees on a variety of topics including customer service, student services, and college procedures.
  • Schedule and assign shifts to Student LIFE Ambassadors for service areas, campus tours, and events/activities.
  • Report annual data regarding the Student LIFE Ambassador program, including numbers of tours, staffed events, and printed ID cards.
  • Coordinate campus tours, prepare and keep current tour training materials, and manage campus tour scheduling systems.
  • Collaborate with campus departments who utilize the Student LIFE Ambassadors for tours and event assistance.
  • Develop and maintain a relationship with student ID vendors, manage inventory, and troubleshoot software and hardware issues.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to develop and implement Welcome Day(s) activities.
  • Develop and design a variety of informational materials and forms, both physical and digital.
  • Maintain and monitor assigned S&A Fee funded budgets and work with the Student LIFE Fiscal Tech to process payments, initiate budget expenditures and transfers.
  • Collaborate on the coordination of large-scale events such as the annual commencement celebration.
  • Collaborate with Student LIFE staff on the operation of the Office of Student LIFE.
  • Manage and keep current assigned web pages.
  • In absence of supervisor, act with delegated decision-making authority.
  • Serve on college and external committees.
  • Ability to work in a high volume, high stress environment.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in a related field or program AND one year of professional experience in student services in higher education OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Two years of experience in customer service and employee supervision and training.
  • Experience that demonstrates awareness and understanding of the diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and employees.
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience planning large events and managing complex projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications.
  • The individual must be a team-oriented self-starter with good problem-solving skills and ability to interact positively and successfully with all levels of the organization.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Bachelors degree in a related field or program
  • Proficient in language(s) in addition to English.
  • Proficiency with learning and student management systems such as Canvas and PeopleSoft.

Work Hours: 9am - 6pm Monday - Friday with occasional night and weekend hours. The summer schedule is condensed to 4 10s, typically with Fridays off. This position is primarily in person; partial remote work may be available.
