Role and responsibilities

The US Tax Expertise Manager will be located in the San Diego, California office and will report to the US Tax Senior Expertise Manager. The position will be responsible for ensuring compliance and technically sound tax returns and reporting (in close cooperation with our tax compliance team). Other responsibilities include:

  • Assist central US compliance (tax and finance) teams in gathering and analyzing required forms and disclosures
  • Act as the face of the Tax & Customs teams towards stakeholders in San Diego
  • Research and provide guidance on corporate income tax, withholding tax, and other tax types
  • Participation in cross-sector projects
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders as well as other Tax and Customs team members to identify tax-relevant topics and provide solutions
  • Assist in managing US income tax audits, tax inquiries, and tax notices
  • Work with the Tax and Customs expertise teams to ensure relevant priorities are addressed
  • Some travel required (5-15%)

Education and experience
  • Bachelor degree in law, accounting, finance, or other business discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Relevant master's degree, CPA, and/or attorney preferred
  • 5+ years' experience in US corporate income tax, (some experience in transfer pricing, wage tax, and sales/use tax is helpful but not required)

  • Be able to work independently, while also knowing when to elevate relevant matters
  • Possess strong analytical, time management, prioritization, and relationship building, and problem solving attributes
  • Be goal oriented, both with team and individual goals
  • Enjoy improving strong technical and business knowledge

Other information

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. * 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently $107,250-$178,750. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
