Summary of Position

This role supports strategic and critical project initiatives for the Enterprise Technology and Services team, in support of USNH leadership priorities. As an integral member of the Portfolio and Project Management Office (PMO) reporting to the Director, your role will involve working closely with project managers, stakeholders, and IT teams to drive project success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Facilitate requirement gathering sessions and document clear and detailed business requirements.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including business cases, requirement specifications, and reports.
  • Perform data analysis to support business decisions and improve processes.
  • Assist in the design and testing of new systems and enhancements to existing systems.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of project proposals, including scope definition, budget estimation, and resource planning.
  • Work with the PMO to prioritize IT projects based on business impact and resource availability.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO.

Other minimum qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communication, Information Systems, or related area, plus three years of relevant experience.
  2. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  3. Experience in requirements gathering through document and data analysis, stakeholder interviews, and effective group facilitation.
  4. A thorough understanding of how to capture customer business needs and translate them into clear and actionable requirements.
  5. Demonstrated proficiency in creating detailed documentation through various formats (i.e., text, diagrams/visualizations, process maps, requirements registries).
  6. Comfortable facilitating discussions with groups, which can include senior team members and subject matter experts, ensuring a collaborative and informed dialogue.
  7. Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
  8. Preference to work in a dynamic environment, interfacing with diverse team members and stakeholders.
  9. Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience in higher education.
  2. Broad-based information technology experience.
  3. Training and/certification in process analysis and process improvement methodologies such as Lean, continuous process improvement, or Total Quality Management (TQM).
  4. Knowledgeable in or able to quickly learn common tools leveraged by project managers.
  5. Proficiency with Office 365.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Collaborating with project managers on assigned projects, ensure future state goals are defined. Lead and/or support the working group through conversations and exercises to determine future state design. Document requirements and changes.
  • Develop an understanding of USNH institutions and departments in order to recognize the different perspectives, experiences, and expertise they bring to group discussions.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including business cases, requirement specifications, and reports.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and document clear and detailed business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Identify gaps and connections between technical system conversations and business process conversations that need additional analysis to fully understand next steps.
  • Perform data analysis to support business decisions and improve processes.
  • Assist in the design and testing of new systems and enhancements to existing systems.
  • Proactively review project plans of assigned project teams to identify needs for business requirement gathering that may not have requested.
  • Proactively raise concerns, questions, or areas of uncertainty to project manager to maximize timely response and support for assignments.
  • Participate in weekly planning meetings collectively ensure timelines, issues, risks, etc. are documented and managed for success.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.

  • Assist in the development and refinement of project proposals, including scope definition, budget estimation, and resource planning.
  • Aid in the operations of and project health monitoring for the Long Range Technology Program and the Enterprise Technology & Services project portfolio.
  • Work with the PMO to prioritize IT projects based on business impact and resource availability.
  • Collaboratively refine requirements gathering tools with the PMO to optimize translation of business requirements into technical requirements.
  • Identify opportunities and collaborate to improve PMO services.
  • Other duties as assigned.
