The Coordinator provides leadership and supervision of student interns for day-to-day operations of the feed the pack food pantry. In addition, the coordinator cultivates community relationships to strengthen pantry partnerships and create service and community engagement opportunities for the NC State community.

  • Recruit, supervise and provide training and development of the student staff members including leadership team and shift leaders and the AmeriCorps VISTA, Volunteer program, and Community Partnerships Intern
  • Lead weekly team meetings, working closely with the Pantry manager to develop robust pantry management systems – including inventory management of produce, shelf-stable food, and essential supplies and ensuring safe and proper functioning of refrigeration and the overall pantry space, adherence to recommended food safety practices and guidelines
  • Coordinate with AmeriCorps VISTA to place weekly food orders, Advisory Board meeting, develop partnership with community and businesses
  • Assist with educational and advocacy programming, and outreach that address food insecurity at NC State and extends the services provided by Feed the Pack Food Pantry
  • Coordinate pantry donations processes, including food and financial donations, and develop fundraising plan
  • Present to university groups, student organizations, community partners, and academic courses about the Feed the Pack Food Pantry, Pack Essentials, the Student Leadership and Engagement office
  • Serve as an active and strategic member of the Pack Essentials steering team

Minimum Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of community engagement and/or addressing food insecurity
  • Demonstrated experience of mentoring, supporting, advising, and/or supervising college students or volunteers

Department Required Skills

  • Commitment to creating a welcoming environment

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, Counseling, Public Administration, Social Work, or other related field
  • Experience of working in a food pantry, or other related community organization addressing food insecurity, poverty, or other community issues
