Job Description

Job Title

Dual Language Program Coordinator

Job Description

The Institute for Educational Initiatives (IEI) and the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) at the University of Notre Dame invite applications for a full-time Dual Language Program Coordinator with an intended start date of July 15, 2024 to support the work of the English as a New Language (ENL) program. The position includes significant work in the areas of dual language outreach, program implementation across three Catholic schools, and coordination of the Early Childhood Language Intensive Programs (ECLIP). The Dual Language Program Coordinator reports to the Director of the ENL and Catholic School Advantage (CSA) programs. The English as a New Language (ENL) program is committed to helping Catholic schools ensure that culturally and linguistically diverse students thrive.

ENL employs a threefold approach which invites schools, leaders, and teachers to develop a deep understanding of the process of second language acquisition, employ research-based instructional strategies, and cultivate culturally sustaining classrooms in the context of the unique realities of Catholic schooling. ENL’s efforts are rooted in four main outreach efforts: formation of Hernandez Fellows through graduate level study, onsite and online professional development, resource creation and research (articles, podcasts, texts, webinars, publications, etc.), and dual language programming.

ENL exists in the context of the larger Catholic School Advantage (CSA) initiative, the national movement committed to promoting the value and accessibility of a quality Catholic education among Church and school leaders, educators, and families. The work of the CSA is committed to embracing the universality of the Church by increasing Latino enrollment, educating culturally and linguistically diverse children through excellent academic formation, and empowering all Catholic school stakeholders through the celebration of faith, language, and culture. ENL faculty work closely with the broader CSA team. Applicants are encouraged to learn more about the Alliance for Catholic Education and its programs at http://ace.nd.edu.
