HSSE Manager
Job Description
On-site daily in La Jolla, CA with potential for 10-20% travelWhat this job involves - We are currently seeking an HSSE Manager to join our Account team. The HSSE Manager will be key member of the Account Team. The role is site based with periodic travel to various sites to review site activities, assist with investigations or to attend client meetings (est. 10% to 20% travel).
What is the day to day?
Become the primary point of contact for HSSE requirements and activities for the account. Communicate HSSE needs and results to the Account Leadership Team.
Play a lead role in the continued development and refinement of JLL's HSSE culture and training programs on the account.
Provide technical expertise, strategic leadership, and support for all various JLL facilities on HSSE regulatory compliance issues and questions.
Develop and maintain the account training matrix.
Provide presentations as needed on specific topics applicable to the account.
Collaborate with other JLL HSSE leads to learn best practices and share best practices developed on client account for benefit of all firm clients.
Manage and provide HSSE oversight to the trending factors and indicators to management on a pre-determined basis. Provide JLL Team and Client with current and historical HSSE data to perform to all KPI metrics.
Ensure that HSSE accidents, injuries, near misses/good catches, and other events are captured, and the data is managed and reported. Manage the OSHA 301/300 recordkeeping requirements for the account.
Participate with operating sites as needed to lead or support investigations of serious safety events, the analysis of root cause(s), support/track the implementation of effective corrective actions, and prepare communications to share the lessons-learned from such events across the account operations.
Support environmental compliance efforts as specified in the JLL/client Master Service Agreement (MSA)/Statement of Work (SOW).
Ensure implementation of account HSSE procedures, documentation and records through audits.
Support ISO 14001 & 45001 certification activities.
Desired experience and technical skills -
Required
Bachelors' Degree in Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or relevant field.
8+ years' experience leading EHS on-site
Practical working knowledge of Health and Safety tools and techniques, ideally within a pharmaceutical facilities management environment.
Knowledge and understanding of relevant standards, legislation, codes of practice, guidance and operating procedures.
Presentation skills to deliver specialist advice at all levels and to deliver localized training to staff as required.
Strong organizational skills, information management proficiency and collaborative management style are needed.
Ability to keep abreast of trends and related best practice.
Evidence of strong interpersonal skills in order to establish credibility with clients, colleagues and senior management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to carry out an audit and gather objective evidence through observation, interview and sampling of documents and records.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
Preferred
General Industry OSHA certifications a plus (CHM, CSHM, CIH, CSP, CEP, etc.)
GMP/GxP experience highly desired
Familiarity with Quality & Compliance regulations and standards
