A number of graduate programs are available to students interested in working with faculty in the Department of Molecular Biomedical Sciences. The Comparative Biomedical Sciences graduate program in CVM consists of several different “tracks”, allowing students to focus their research in the areas of cell biology, immunology/infectious diseases, pharmacology, pathology, and population medicine. Other graduate programs with which departmental faculty are affiliated include programs in immunology, physiology, toxicology, and functional genomics.
Essential Job Duties
- Conducting experiments (pre-experiment planning, collecting/processing samples, performing research techniques, data analysis, communication of results)
- Assisting with lab management (care of university-owned animals and equipment, lab safety/hygiene tasks, maintaining accurate/organized inventory of research supplies).
This is a one year time limited position.

- Desire and willingness to learn, develop, and perform experimental techniques.
- Ability to work independently after training as well as willingness to contribute to a supportive team environment and positive lab culture.
- Organizational skills, detail-oriented approach to tasks and responsibilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle concurrent activities.
- Motivated and accountable with a strong work ethic.
- Proficiency with safe and humane handling/restraint of horses (at least 2 years of experience working with horses, not including handling personally-owned horses).
- Ability to independently perform basic equine physical examination and collect blood from horses (jugular venipuncture).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous basic science research experience.

Valid NC Driver's License required
