Job Title

Grants Program Manager - Hybrid and Remote Optional

Job Description

Notre Dame Research is committed to creating a community that fosters equity of experience and opportunity and ensures that members of all backgrounds feel safe, welcome, and included. We strive to achieve a culture of openness, autonomy, and belonging; making Notre Dame an exceptional place for our team, partners, and collaborators to flourish.

Come grow with us! The University of Notre Dame received a record-breaking $222.7 million in research award funding for fiscal year 2021. This is more than $42 million over the previous record and the first time the University has surpassed the $200 million mark. To support this immense growth, Notre Dame Research is recruiting a research administration professional to enhance the team that will steward our research enterprise into its next phase.

The University of Notre Dame has been selected for inclusion in the Association of American Universities (AAU), a consortium of the nation’s leading public and private research universities, Notre Dame’s president, Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., announced recently. Click here to read the press release.

“While Notre Dame has long been known for its undergraduate education, we have striven to be a preeminent research institution with superb graduate education, all informed by our Catholic mission,” Father Jenkins said. “We are honored to be invited to join the AAU and heartened by the AAU Board’s recognition of our progress as a research university, and we look forward to participating in this august organization.”

We are seeking a critical-thinking and conscientious professional to work as a Grants Program Manager (GPM) to serve Notre Dame’s world-class faculty, staff researchers, departmental and center/institute administrators across a variety of disciplines. GPMs support research program activities, including monitoring and maintaining award funds and accounts, providing services such as budgeting, forecasting, and reviewing expenditures for allowability, allocability and reasonableness; communicating all grant terms and conditions to the project teams with an eye towards compliance; and assisting with hiring, purchasing, and reporting.

GPMs are expected to work proactively and anticipate the needs faculty and researchers may have during the lifetime of their projects. The ability to work independently with minimal oversight and within a wider team is critical for success in the GPM role. Notre Dame Research Administration strives to deliver a seamless customer-service experience to our faculty and researchers throughout the entirety of the research lifecycle.

Notre Dame Research fully embraces the University’s efforts to cultivate a coaching culture across all levels of its personnel, which encourages having regular, synergistic conversations between employees and supervisors and two-way feedback.
