Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy is seeking to fill one tenure-track faculty position in cancer therapeutics and/or precision medicine. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent and highly-collaborative research program with direct relevance to cancer. This position is part of a campus-wide cluster hiring initiative in Human Cancer Genetics and Precision Medicine (https://facstaff.provost.wisc.edu/cluster-hiring-initiative/). The tenure home of the successful applicant will be determined at the time of hire in a division within the School of Pharmacy. Clinician-scientist candidates requiring access to patient care will have the opportunity for joint appointments between the School of Pharmacy and the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH).

Principal Duties:

We seek applicants with a track record of outstanding research accomplishments in a highly collegial and collaborative academic environment. The successful candidate will be expected to: (1) develop an internationally-recognized research program that focuses on cancer therapeutics and/or precision medicine, (2) acquire and sustain robust extramural research funding, (3) teach within the graduate and professional programs of the School of Pharmacy, (4) mentor students and postdoctoral trainees, (5) participate in faculty governance in the division, the School and/or University, (6) participate in professional, public and university service, and (7) participate in activities and programs in the campus-wide cluster hire initiative. A key consideration in this cluster hire is a candidate that can foster and work within a highly-collaborative interdisciplinary environment. This candidate will be a member of the SMPH Center for Human Genomics and Precision Medicine, which will provide synergy in laboratory and computational capabilities and shared human clinical/genomics data. The candidate will also be a member of the Cancer Genetic and Epigenetic Mechanisms Program of the UW Carbone Cancer Center and will have the opportunity to participate in the statewide Molecular Tumor Board. Other opportunities for collaboration include the Marshfield Clinic Research Institute and the NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award-funded program at UW-Madison. Degree and Area of Specialization:

Ph.D. in biology, chemistry or related field required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Expertise in human cancer therapeutics, diagnostics, pharmacogenomics, precision medicine, or related discipline required. At least 2 years postdoctoral research experience preferred.
