Job Description

The Site Master Planner is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the Project Management Office, ensuring effective project charter development, governance, and alignment with strategic laboratory business growth. The Planner will work closely with laboratory stakeholders across various therapeutic areas to manage the La Jolla Master Plan implementation strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Portfolio Management:

Manage the site Master Plan, including:
o
Define Prioritization Plan:
Collaborate with the project core team and key stakeholders to define a prioritization plan for the renovation of Therapeutic Laboratory facilities, aligning with strategic objectives and operational needs.
o
Develop Construction Plan:
Define a construction plan that ensures business continuity during the renovation process, including strategies for relocating site operations (e.g., utilizing swing space) and minimizing disruption to ongoing activities.
o
Engage with Design and Engineering Firms:
Partner with design architecture companies to evaluate laboratory layout upgrades and support operational growth demands, ensuring alignment with investment needs.
Collaborate with engineering construction companies to define utility upgrade requirements (e.g., HVAC, Exhausting, Water) to accommodate new laboratory layouts and support project objectives.
o
Evaluate Laboratory Assets and Develop Replacement Strategies:
Assess the lifespan of laboratory assets such as fume hoods and Biological Safety Cabinets (BSCs) and develop strategies for replacement while ensuring business continuity and addressing investment needs.
o
Building Business Case for Capital Approval:
Based on engineering and architecture studies, develop a comprehensive business case to be presented to Johnson & Johnson leadership for capital approval in the upcoming year, outlining project scope, costs, and expected benefits.

o
Collaborate with Project Delivery Team (PDM):
Work closely with the Project Delivery team to develop final project designs upon capital approval, expediting project completion and ensuring alignment with project objectives.
o
Participate in Project Meetings and Provide Updates:
Participate in construction laboratory renovation project meetings with the Project Delivery team to track project status, address any issues or concerns, and provide updates to J&J Laboratory leadership on project progress.
Stakeholder Management:

Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand project requirements, expectations, and priorities.

Communicate project status, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner, and facilitate decision-making at all levels.
Risk Management and Quality Assurance:

Identify and mitigate project study risks, issues, and dependencies to minimize disruption and ensure successful project outcomes.
*

Implement quality assurance processes to monitor project deliverables and ensure compliance with established standards and requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
*
*
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO, leveraging lessons learned and best practices to enhance project management capabilities and efficiency.
Qualifications:
*
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Chemistry, Project Management, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
*
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent credentials are preferred.
*
Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management, with at least [X] years in a leadership or managerial role.

Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects and project portfolios across multiple business functions or industries.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering results and driving continuous improvement.

Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Project, JIRA, Trello) and familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
