Essential Job Duties
- Providing needed information and making interpretations of the NC Mechanical code to assure compliance.
- Interfacing with State Construction Office inspection and code compliance staff to ensure successful inspection and acceptance of in-house built projects.
- Assisting the Construction Shop HVAC Lead in overseeing all HVAC mechanical work with the task of reducing the growing load of HVAC projects.
- Creating a material list for project supplies and equipment to complete scheduled work order projects in a timely manner.
- Serving as a North Carolina State license heating 2 & 3 technical expert required by the NC State construction office
- Inspecting work done by others and making sure that all work is complete under the NC State mechanical code to be inspected by the NC State Construction office.
- Computer skills are required for renovation procurement and producing management reports.
Other Responsibilities
- This position will be required to walk with the State Construction Office inspectors and gather all mechanical installation issues or changes to get this project to pass all State mechanical codes inspection and approvals.
- Follow all directions from the Mechanical Lead person.
- Knowledgeable of remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment. Understands materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety.
- Reads and understands blueprints.
- Knows and functions in at least one other trade and possesses general knowledge of others.
- Assists other trades as required.
Minimum Experience/Education
Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Other Required Qualifications
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally with supervisors and the general public and understand verbal and written instructions and other communications regarding work assignments and other matters.
- The primary functions of the position require the ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds frequently and 90 pounds occasionally, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Experience in HVAC trade.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a university setting with a State HVAC License to renovate building HVAC space and with multi trade experience.
Required License or Certification
- Required to have the NC State Heating/AC license in categories 2 & 3
- A valid NC Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment.
- Licenses/certifications must be maintained as a condition of employment.
