About the Role:

The postdoc in In Vitro Pharmacology/Discovery Biology research will participate in early-stage preclinical human disease model projects at Neurocrine. In collaboration with In Vitro Pharmacology- and Electrophysiology-team members the individual will be a key contributor to the development and implementation of a patient-specific organoid platform.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • The primary role is to establish a novel human iPSC-derived organoid platform

  • Design and perform in vitro studies to support current and future research projects in multiple target/disease areas

  • Prepare data summaries and present results to peers and colleagues at Neurocrine

  • Present data as appropriate at scientific meetings at the National and International level

  • Other tasks as assigned

  • Ph.D. in biology, life sciences or related discipline, with experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry OR with prior non-industry Ph.D. experience

  • Experience in stem cell biology with a focus on differentiation paradigms to derive defined CNS-specific organoid cultures

  • Experience with viral and/or non-viral gene delivery, genome-editing (e.g., CRISPR/Cas systems) and delivery of genetic material via diverse delivery methods

  • Experience in low to medium electrophysiology methods such as mutli-electrode arrays would be preferred

  • Experience with single cell transcriptomic profiling (e.g., 10x Genomics) would be preferred

Requirements:
  • General knowledge about the function of the central and autonomic nervous systems

  • Experience in advanced experimental technologies and their utilization in the drug discovery process

  • Experience with primary and iPSC-derived neural cultures

  • Excellent critical analysis skills

  • Assimilates data and research findings outside of Neurocrine for application to new scientific projects

  • Maintains broad knowledge of scientific principles and theories and possesses intellectual mastery of one or more scientific areas

  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated ability working with / recommending a variety of laboratory equipment/tools

  • Ability to work as part of teams

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Excellent communications, problem-solving, analytical thinking skills

  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines across a variety of projects/programs, with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
