Required Degree: Ph.D. in Finance. Required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience: Evidence of associated work experience; prefer evidence of successful teaching of Finance at collegiate level or equivalent professional experience related to content covered in the class.

Duties/Expectations:

Manage MSB 250 (Financial Management) as an independent study instructor starting immediately (see course descriptions on is.byu.edu). Given the course is independent study, this primarily will mean the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Update and keep up to date course content pertaining to the course
  • Be available to and respond to students¿ questions and queries in a timely and professional manner
  • Grade and give feedback on students¿ assignments and track performance

Experience and expertise in the following areas required:

1. understand how financial statements are used by financial managers/analysts,
2. utilize DuPont and free cash flow measures,
3. construct a financial forecast for a firm,
4. employ time value of money/discounted cash flows to solve common financial problems,
5. value bonds and stocks,
6. measure risk and how it correlates with return,
7. compute after-tax cash flows for capital budgeting projects,
8. make corporate investment decisions using capital budgeting,
9. compute the cost of capital for a firm,
10. value a firm, and
11. learn personal finance key topics.

Must reside in the State of Utah to be eligible for employment consideration.
